Project Title :
Life Cycle of a Dragonfly.
Target Audience :
6 - 12 years old, primary school student.
Objective :
- To create awareness about
dragonfly creature.
- To educate the user about the life
cycle of a dragonfly.
- To educate the user about
dragonfly's predator.
- To create an edutainment learning
application/game.
- To create an educative and
engaging application/game.
Description :
- There will be a starting page
before the user starts playing the application. On the starting page which is
it will be the start menu of the application, it will give options/settings
buttons for the user to choose. At here the game using GUI design to display
the start menu with background image. "Play" and "Exit"
buttons will have in the start menu.
- As the user choosing
"Play", the game will begin. From the start menu screen, it will
directly straight go to the gameplay. The "Exit" button is for the
user to close the application.
- A pop up info will come out on the
screen giving a brief introduction of the application and also a list of
instruction design visually on how the user can navigate and interact with the
objects that will have in the environment.
- The user will play the game as
third person view, controlling a dragonfly to flythrough the environment in the
application.
- Game mechanism - flythrough,
walkthrough, levels, obstacles, achievement/rewards system.
- In this application, there will
have 2 levels/stages. How the environment is been designed? What will happen?
And what interaction will have? Flow of the application of each levels will be
described as in the table below :
First Level

Content :
- Getting to know about dragonfly
body parts.
Context :
- Find hidden body
parts of dragonfly in the environment.
- Information about the body
part of the dragonfly.
- An anatomy picture of a
dragonfly.
Gameplay :
- The camera view will be in
third person, controlling a dragonfly flythrough the environment in the
application.
- Pond/lake with some bushes
will be the setting for the environment.
- As the game start, a pop up
info will come out on the screen showing the objectives that user must
achieve in this first level.
- The objective is finding the
dragonfly body parts hidden inside the environment.
- There will be 5 body parts of
dragonfly that the user needs to find which are the head, body, abdomen,
wings and legs. Each part that the user needs to find will be in a glowing circle.
- The obstacle in this
application is several false body parts will also be placed inside the
environment.
- After the 5 body parts have
been collected correctly, the user considered success in this level and can
go to the next level.
- An anatomy picture of a dragonfly
will be showed as the reward that the user will get after success in this
level.
Interaction :
- Pop up info will come out on
the screen giving instruction to the user.
- Collecting items which is the
body parts of the dragonfly.
- Collecting a correct body
part will increase the score, while collecting a false body part will deduct
the score.
- Sound will produce after
collecting each of the body part.

Second Level
|
Content :
- Getting to know about
dragonfly foods.
Context :
- Food that they eat during nymph
stage.
- Food that they eat during
dragonfly stage.
- "Dragonflies as
Food." Their predators.
Gameplay :
- The camera view will be in
third person, also controlling a dragonfly.
- Pond/lake with
some bushes will be the setting for the environment.
- At this level, a pop up info
will come out on the screen showing the objectives the user must achieve.
- The objectives are to find
the dragonfly's food and to avoid from colliding with the dragonfly's
predator.
- There will be several kind of
food that will be hidden in the environment and each food will be in a
glowing circle.
- The predators will move
around inside the environment as the obstacles for the user.
- Health bar system will have
in this level.
Interaction :
- Pop up info will
come out on the screen giving instruction to the user.
- Collecting items which is the
dragonfly's food.
- Colliding with the predators
will give damage and affect the health bar.
- Collecting the foods will
increase the score while colliding with the predators will affect the health
bar.
